    Amazing for the price

We Dislike

  • Not as good quality as higher priced interfaces

Summary:

The Focusrite 2i2 audio interface is vastly popular and perfect for anyone needing to record in a home studio.

What you get for the price is outstanding.

It's well built with an extremely nice finish...

...And It has very low latency.

So low in fact, Focusrite claim and I quote:

"Scarlett 2nd Generation interfaces have lower latency than any other USB audio interfaces".

They also claim this is the bestselling audio interface in the world and I believe them!

It's super easy to use, just plug in and play.

The sound is also really nice, although the sound drivers are not as good as more expensive models.

But:

For $150 there's not much on the market that beats the Scarlette 2i2.

If you are getting your first audio interface to record vocals, guitar, trumpet, violin or all of the above...

...And you don't want to pay a fortune.

This is what you need.

Summary:

The Komplete Audio 6 is a step up from the Scarlette 2i2.

With the construction being remarkably nice and rugged...

...And it feels like it would most definitely still work after a few knocks, thanks to the components inside being protected by the metal chassis.

It comes with two analogue combo inputs XLR/TRS, with the XLR's having a lock switch...

...So no ripping the cable out by accident.

You also have the ability to monitor to what you are recording in mono with one switch.

There are two TRS outs for your left and right monitors but no XLR support for them.

The Audio 6 Also has another 4 1/4 inch balanced ports (2 in, 2 out) and digital stereo input and output (RCA/SPDIF).

Finally it has a midi in and out for any external midi equipment you want to use.

The sound from the Komplete Audio 6 is clean, clear and punchy and is what you would expect from an audio interface at this price.

If you are wanting to get something better than the Focusrite 2i2 but don't want to spend much more money...

...I highly recommend this.

We Dislike

  • Expensive
  • Thunderbolt only

Summary:

The Apollo Twin MKII is the most expensive on the list,

But if you want the best from a desktop interface at a reasonable price then look no further.

The sound from this beast is amazing; it's crystal clear and more transparent than any other in its price range.

The construction is excellent and stylish with its curved back.

Making any Studio desk Look great.

It has 2 XLR/TRS inputs, 1/4" outs for your monitors, an optical in and 2 TRS line outs.

The bad note is:

This device only supports thunderbolt connections.

For mac users this shouldn't be a problem, but it might be for older pc users...

...Saying that though, you could easily pick up a converter to something more suitable for your needs.

If you're willing to spend a little more on an audio interface I cannot recommend this highly enough.

This is up with the very best audio interfaces and will potentially be the start of a basic home studio turning into professional quality.
